What youll be doing
As a z/OS System Automation Analyst you will be working within our CE&T Mainframe Engineering team. You will work closely with our engineering resources to design implement and maintain System Automation policies supporting our mainframe environments. You will help to ensure our mainframe systems are highly automated available and resilient in compliance with established controls standards policies and industry best practices.As an z/OS system automation Analyst you will design configure test and optimize z/OS System Automation policies within our z/OS GDPS & Parallel Sysplex operating environment. You will be creating REXX CLISTs and JCL to help streamline our mainframe operations. Additionally you will assist in the troubleshooting of automation failures and work closely with team members to resolve the issues. Working closely with our Operations and Development teams to define automation policies for batch scheduling workload management and other event driven responses. You will also assist our team to support develop & maintain GDPS automation scripts required to support our local and remote disaster recovery automated solution.

How youll succeed
Technical Expertise you will leverage your solid z/OS system automation technology expertise to review and analyze potential opportunities to further enhance z/OS automation polices to streamline operational tasks enhance system address spaces recoverability ensuring the most effective use of computing resources.
Effective Communication you will work to accomplish organizational goals that are consistent in supporting both IT and Business objectives communicate effectively and patiently across technology teams to influence teams to adopt automation solutions to keep critical systems secure and operationally resilient. You will provide and document problem analysis resolution while working closely with our external software providers. You will actively participate in periodic disaster recovery exercises maintaining disaster recovery readiness of systems and monitoring status of systems to proactively prevent issues from occurring.
Relationship Management You will collaborate with internal business partners in Application Development Infrastructure IT Operations and IT Production Support to accomplish organizational goals that are consistent in supporting both IT and Business objectives. You will work directly with Hardware and Software vendors on solutions build your network and deepen existing relationships. You will leverage your verbal written and presentation communication skills to build strong partnerships while influencing participants to mutually beneficial outcomes.
Who you are
You can demonstrate a minimum of 4 years experience in z/OS System Automation (SA). You also have experience using and configuring z/OS System Automation management software. you can create / update and maintaining automation policies within a parallel Sysplex configuration. Experience with creating automation policies for : System IPLs subsystem restarts workload management and event driven responses is important. Experience with RACF in an automation environment is desired. Exposure to performing root cause & resolution analysis for mainframe automation failures. it will be as asset if you have understanding of seamless integration with Netview and other system tools RACF CA-7 Scheduler. Good understanding of hardware components and optimization features available in mainframe hardware (zIIPS IFLs SSD) and an understanding of mainframe CPU and cost models to identify ideal workload placements. You have a firm understanding of IBM Mainframe CPU concepts including CBUs
Youre a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in IBM Badge/Advanced Certification in Mainframe; Incident change and problem handling; Participation/contribution to technical projects; and in-depth knowledge and understanding of IBM Mainframes and related product software is preferred.
