Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Trailer Mechanic to join our team. In this role youll be responsible for diagnosing repairing and maintaining a variety of commercial trailers and truck bodies including dry vans reefers liftgates and more. Youll work alongside experienced technicians in a well-equipped shop with a consistent workload and supportive management.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on trailers
- Diagnose and repair trailer components including: brakes suspension lights doors flooring landing gear and roofs
- Repair or replace side panels roof skins flooring and structural components on dry van and reefer trailers
- Diagnose and repair liftgate issues (electrical/hydraulic/mechanical)
- Weld fabricate and complete bodywork as required
- Accurately document all repairs and parts used
- Ensure all work meets DOT and company safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Communicate effectively with service writers and managers
Qualifications
- 2 years of trailer or truck body repair experience preferred
- Basic welding and fabrication skills (steel & aluminum)
- Familiarity with air brake systems ABS diagnostics and liftgate systems
- Own a basic set of tools (specialty tools provided)
- CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a drug screening background check and MVR check.
