Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Shop Assistant will be to assist the Waterjet Manager and Waterjet Operators with day-to-day tasks while learning the basics of manufacturing including how to operate machinery. Prepping equipment and workstations assisting with shipping and receiving cleaning workstations unloading scrap bins and other tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Clean and maintain equipment as directed
- Drive shop truck as needed
- Operate equipment such as the horizontal saw cut off saw disc grinder
- Provides general assistance around the shop including administrative and technical tasks
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on waterjet machines and equipment
- Maintain a safe clean and organized work environment
- Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines tools and workstations
- Complies with all quality policies specifications regulations and instructions
- Load and unload delivery trucks
- Perform other duties as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Basic ability to work with shop tools correctly. (Sockets wrenches pliers etc.)
- Basic knowledge of shop mechanics mathematics and measurement
- Familiarity and ability to identify different material types (Aluminum Stainless Steel Titanium etc.)

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required
- A minimum of 1 year of manufacturing related work preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers equipment hand/power tools etc. and handle and feel parts of various size
- Ability to bend kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift
- Ability to push pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday occasionally 50lbs with a team lift
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision color vision depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus
- Fast-paced environment
- Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
- Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
- Moving mechanical parts and vibrations
- Exposure to hot metal and machining components
- Exposure to various types of coolants and oils
WORK HOURS/TRAVEL
- 1st Shift Work Schedule: 5 8-hour shifts
- Overtime as necessary
