A Revenue Specialist in this position is responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of all physical payments that come through Tax Collections as well as ensuring compliance with state and county laws and policies. Specific responsibilities of this position involve a wide variety of payment processing and customer service responsibilities including but not limited to: in-person property tax payments by cash check or charge; mail and revenue sorting; processing payments for occupancy tax vehicle rental tax and landfill on account payments; internal lockbox processing; issuance of mobile home moving permits; answering common property tax collections and assessment questions accurately and directing taxpayers to the correct department to have their more complex questions answered. This position also works closely with the Daily Tax Collections Supervisor to resolve unique issues involving tax payments while maintaining departmental consistency and keeping in compliance with state and county regulations.
The ideal candidate for this position will have proven experience in the areas of customer service cash-handling organization records maintenance work-flow process creation and problem-solving along with strong teamwork and communication skills.
Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of standardized clerical functions with significant public contact in the County Tax Office.
Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High school diploma or GED; and a minimum one (1) year experience in a busy office including public facing customer service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

In order to uphold internal pay parity and equity salaries are non-negotiable for new and current Buncombe County employees.
