Description

The Chubb Global Markets division of Chubb are seeking a hardworking and driven individual to join their team as an Assistant Underwriter.

This is a unique opportunity to learn how to underwrite risks and play a pivotal role in our underwriting strategy. You will work closely with experienced underwriters granting you the chance to make impactful decisions while sharpening your expertise in the fast-paced London Market. The successful individual will gain hands-on London Market experience by working at Lloydss and providing specialist insurance for large and complex risk exposures across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting Support (65%)

  • Prepare and gather information required to assist with the quoting stage
  • Help track premium income booking ensuring it is in line with planned / reported numbers and investigate any differences
  • Maintain and update underwriting databases and records meticulously
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management such as production exposure summaries rate movement and adequacy to drive strategic decisions
  • Actively participate in innovative discussions to streamline processes and improve efficiency of our internal tools
  • Build and maintain a strong external reputation. Become a strong advocate for the brand. Behave in a manner consistent with Chubbs core values ethics culture and service standards both internally and externally.

Underwriting tasks (30%)

  • Collaborate with underwriters to evaluate price and accept risks based on our established guidelines
  • Collaborate with underwriters to refine risk acceptance criteria and enhance risk assessment strategies
  • Gather analyse and synthesise risk information and documentation to make informed underwriting decisions
  • Build and maintain good relationships with brokers.

Any other responsibilities/ad hoc initiatives provided by the Product Head/Senior Underwriter (5%)

  • Adhoc requests might be required such as to create and maintain reports to be present at the box in Lloyds with the UW teams to provide training to new starters etc.


Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Underwriting Assistant knowledge of Chubb internal systems. Ready to take the next step in a career in underwriting
  • Solid understanding of the London Market and its unique dynamics
  • Understanding of CAT models Primary XOL and rating models
  • Willingness to learn and self-develop
  • Conscientious and diligent The ability to manage large and often unpredictable workloads in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong communicator and able to build relationships with both internal Chubb stakeholders and external stakeholders across the London market
  • Motivated results driven considerate self-starter that works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Expected to undertake training and progress through professional examinations.
  • Effective verbal and written communications in English.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of the Line of Business
  • CII Cert or currently undertaking professional examinations.
