TEACHER OF THE DEAF
One - 1.0 Replacement position - Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf Elementary
Position is available September 1 2025 until August 31 2026 with possibility of extension

Do you have interest in the education of students who are Deaf Consider bringing your professional expertise to the Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch. Currently there are exciting career opportunities available at Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf Elementary program in Milton.
The following position is available:
- Competition # P D SB 2 5-10 3 : Teacher of the Deaf 1.0 Replacement position Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf Elementary program Milton
- Position is available for the 2025/2026 school year with possibility of extension.
What we are looking for:
Qualifications:
- Valid Certificate of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers;
- Deaf Specialist/Teaching Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing or currently engaged in completing the requirements for the specialist qualification (NOTE: PDSB will consider teacher candidates who are currently engaged in completing the requirements for the specialist qualification and/or who express a willingness to obtain) ;
- Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Division qualifications required.
Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience teaching Deaf/hard of hearing students in academic programs and/or programs for students with multiple exceptionalities;
- Ability to develop and modify lesson plans and to create IEPs to effectively teach Deaf students;
- An in-depth knowledge of the principles of teaching Deaf students;
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and students using a variety of behavioural management strategies;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL) (NOTE: PDSB will consider teacher candidates who express a willingness to obtain ASL language fluency).
- Ability to apply an in depth knowledge of bilingual-biliteracy-bicultural education for Deaf students;
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and work with students with multiple exceptionalities.
