Job Description

Position Summary:

Provide administrative/communications support for the Pastor and for all worship services. Maintain accurate databases and church media sites to connect the congregation and to inform the public. Maintain accurate records and perform administrative functions that support St. Mark compliance with Mission Presbytery requirements.

This position reports directly to the Pastor but supports all church staff the church ministry leaders and congregation for administrative/communication needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of weekly bulletins both Traditional Contemporary and Special services
  • Preparation of a professional weekly newsletter (The Happenings)
  • Preparation of all communications for special events brochures flyers etc.
  • Maintains social media sites for postings (Facebook Instagram etc.)
  • Preparation of media/press releases to newspapers
  • Provides and coordinates brochures/flyers with the Chamber of Commerce
  • Prepares slides for weekly and special worship services (ProPresenter)
  • Continual review and maintenance of the church website
  • Preparation of the annual report
  • Manages the member database
  • Manages all files for communications in SharePoint

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

High levels of competency are required for this position:

  • Quick learner who has a high level of proficiency in skills in Word Excel Power Point ProPresenter and Adobe Editor
  • Experience with Canva or other graphic design tools
  • Website design and maintenance
  • Excellent organizational skills accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Forward thinking person who is a self-starter plans ahead and anticipates needs
  • Makes recommendations and brings them forward
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a highly responsible administrative capacity
  • Previous experience in developing professional internal and external communications
  • Knowledge of databases and publishing software
