Legal Intern- Youth Defense Division

Work Hours: maximum 30 Hours Bi-Weekly
Starting Salary: $ 20.00 an hour
Requirements (Education Experience Licensure Certification): - Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in an accredited college or university required preferably in criminal justice legal studies psychology sociology or related fields; current enrollment in an accredited law school program preferred but not required.
Job Duties (Summary): - Assist HCPD in identifying and screening clients eligible for grant program assistance.
- Create project materials collect data and analyze data related to the grant project.
- Develop written resources and coordinating community forum educational events for youth and families and assist in developing community partnerships.
- Assist in coordinating attorney training events.
- The legal intern must be organized efficient and self-motivated.
- Performs various clerical tasks and projects to meet job needs.
- Maintains client confidentiality.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: Computer operations; general computer software; public relations; youth and/or criminal legal systems
Skill in: Organizational communication and interpersonal critical thinking emotional intelligence data entry and analysis; typing; operation of modern office equipment (e.g. computer scanner copier etc.); accessing various computer applications quickly and accurately; Microsoft word applications; event operations
Ability to: Follow standard procedures; communicate effectively orally and in writing; apply requirements to practical situations; develop and maintain courteous professional and effective working relationships with associates supervisors attorneys and general public; exercise sound judgment; collect and research data; deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context; maintain accurate records; operate computer equipment and necessary applications with speed and accuracy; organize documents according to alphabetical numerical and subject order; understand various pertinent legislation pertaining to filing; add subtract multiply and divide whole numbers; maneuver large files; handles multiple tasks at one time.
