Job Description

Physician Assistant-Hospitalist (Permanent Role)

Location: College Station TX 77845
Shift: Full-time Night 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 84 per week
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions of the Role:
  • Perform comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and obtain detailed medical histories.
  • Order interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests (labs imaging etc.) to identify patient health needs.
  • Prescribe and manage medications and other therapies per approved protocols emphasizing safety efficacy and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop and implement outcome-based treatment plans following standards of care and in collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams.
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment and adjust care as needed.
  • Educate and counsel patients and families on medical conditions treatments medications side effects and lifestyle modifications.
  • Maintain detailed timely records of care plans and outcomes.
  • Refer or consult other healthcare providers when patient needs fall outside the PAs scope or expertise.
  • Provide specialty consultations and perform invasive procedures as trained and credentialed.
  • Participate in hospital rounds assist with admissions/discharges and provide on-call support when needed.
Key Success Factors:
  • Strong clinical knowledge of diagnosing/treating injuries illnesses and chronic conditions.
  • Familiarity with drug therapies treatment alternatives and preventive health strategies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical software.
  • Capable of developing comprehensive patient-centered care plans.
  • Skilled in interpreting lab and diagnostic results.
  • Ability to provide behavioral counseling and patient education.
  • Must be proficient in procedures relevant to hospitalist care (depending on scope/training).
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Experience: Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • Licensure/Certification Requirements:
    • Current Physician Assistant license in Texas
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) must obtain within 30 days of hire
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must obtain within 30 days of hire
    • Certification by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
