Job Description

Job Title: Ophthalmology Surgical Technologist

Location: Peoria IL

Position Type: Full-Time Day Shift

Schedule: Monday to Friday 5x8s 6:30 AM 3:00 PM (No nights weekends and major holidays)

Compensation: Competitive full-time benefits package available.

This is a high-performing multi-specialty center focused on delivering exceptional outpatient surgical care. The team values collaboration continuous learning and cross-training across multiple surgical specialties with an emphasis on quality and patient safety.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Surgical Technologist to join the surgical team. Certification is not required but strong clinical and technical competency is expected. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in ophthalmology procedures and a willingness to grow into other surgical areas.

Reporting directly to the Clinical Director the Surgical Technologist will prepare for scheduled operations maintain a sterile field assist the surgeon during procedures and ensure proper instrument handling and equipment sterilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment and instrument setup for scheduled surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons by passing instruments holding retractors and ensuring operative efficiency.
  • Maintain surgical inventory and ensure availability of necessary supplies.
  • Clean and store surgical equipment according to sterile processing protocols.
  • Process and sterilize instruments based on departmental clean/dirty assignments.
  • Deliver age-appropriate care to patients ranging from 6 months to adult.
  • Demonstrate competency in fewer than 5 surgical service lines and be open to cross-training in others.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Surgical Technologist in an OR setting.
  • Proficiency in sterile technique instrumentation and intraoperative assistance.
  • Experience in ophthalmology surgical procedures preferred.
  • Strong organizational multitasking and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working under general supervision.
  • Eagerness to train across specialties in a collaborative ASC environment.
