Job Description

Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Location: Peoria IL

Position Type: Full-Time Day Shift

Schedule: Monday to Friday 5x8s 6:30 AM 3:00 PM (No nights weekends and major holidays)

Compensation: Competitive full-time benefits package available.

About the Facility:

This is a fast-paced multi-specialty center offering comprehensive surgical services in a supportive and collaborative setting. Surgical Technologists are encouraged to cross-train and build skills across multiple specialties with an emphasis on safety efficiency and exceptional patient care.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist to join a high-performing perioperative team. While certification is not required this role demands a seasoned professional with strong clinical skills a solid understanding of sterile techniques and a commitment to patient safety.

The Surgical Technologist will report directly to the Clinical Director and is responsible for preparing the operating room maintaining a sterile environment assisting surgeons during procedures and managing surgical instrumentation and equipment post-procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for scheduled surgeries by setting up sterile instrument tables in accordance with procedures and departmental protocols.
  • Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies maintaining visibility and holding retractors.
  • Manage and maintain surgical inventory and sterile supplies.
  • Clean the OR and properly store surgical equipment following procedures.
  • Sterilize inspect and assemble instruments adhering to clean vs. dirty protocols.
  • Demonstrate working competency in fewer than 5 surgical specialties with a willingness to cross-train.
  • Provide patient care appropriate to the 6-month to adult age range.
  • Recognize and report significant patient conditions or changes to RN Charge Nurse Anesthesia or physician as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with aseptic/sterile techniques and AORN and AST guidelines.
  • Uphold high standards of patient safety and surgical discipline at all times.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Surgical Technologist in a surgical/clinical setting.
  • Proven knowledge of operating room protocols and sterile techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under general supervision.
  • Understanding of standards set by the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and cross-train across specialties.
