Job Summary:
This role is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a critical access hospital setting. The CNA will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting with activities of daily living collecting patient data and performing basic medical procedures. The position requires weekend work on a rotating schedule and collaboration with the nursing team.
Location: Chewelah Washington United States.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including ambulation hygiene feeding and positioning.
- Collect patient data such as vital signs weights and specimens.
- Perform basic medical procedures including incentive spirometry pulse oximetry and blood sugar checks (under supervision).
- Assist with patient transport and preparation for diagnostic tests.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Answer phones direct calls and perform data entry.
- Document patient care and related duties.
- Assist the nursing team in emergency situations.
- Perform post-mortem care.
- Assist with admission and discharge procedures.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider CPR certification.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Prior hospital experience.
- ACLS certification.
Special Considerations:
- Weekend work is required every other weekend.
- Block scheduling is utilized.
- Patient ratios are 1:12 with support from two RNs and a hospital unit coordinator (HUC).
- This is a critical access hospital with 23 beds.
