Duration: 12-months contract with the possibility of a 4-year extension
Start Date: October 2025
Shift Schedule: Standard shifts are 8 10 hours typically 8:00 AM 5:00 PM or 7:00 AM 6:00 PM depending on clinical needs and staffing 7-day workweek
License / Certifications Required:
- Medical Assistant Certification: Must have one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- CPR/BCLS Certification
Minimum Qualification / Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Preferred: Experience in a specialty area
- High school diploma or equivalent (Medical Assistant training program preferred)
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care including diagnostic studies treatments medications and other therapeutic measures in accordance with policy and procedure in support of physicians orders and as required by the patients condition diagnosis and needs.
- Provide appropriate coordination of care and intervention to patients undergoing a medical or psychiatric emergency
- Address the physical psychological emotional socio-cultural age-specific and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care. Provide patient and family education.
- Take off initiate and carry out medical orders placed by physicians: Administer medications oxygen and a variety of treatments.
- Manage a wide variety of therapeutic devices such as drainage feeding and suction tubes also respiratory and electrocardiograph machines and other medical equipment and supplies.
- Measure and asses vital signs height weight and neurological status effects of medication visual acuity and hearing.
- Provide direct patient care; assist patient with activities of daily living and ambulation.
- Observe and document patient care provided changes in patients conditions observations and other designated unit activities in the accepted format and form.
- Collaborate and coordinate patient care with other health care providers and clinic staff.
- Perform quality control for crash cart checks lab checks capillary blood glucose monitoring checks etc.
- Collect or assist in collection of specimens i.e. blood urine stool etc.
- Recognize life-threatening emergencies initiate and maintain resuscitation measures and other emergency procedures as appropriate to the situation.
- Recognize adverse reactions to medications treatments and procedures and initiate interventions as appropriate to the situation.
- Answer and screen telephone calls.
