TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George we offer a full range of services including day programs residential living art center programs summer camp and supported employment opportunities.

SCHEDULE

The typical schedule for this position rotates between two schedules allowing for every other weekend off.

  • Week One: Monday Tuesday Friday 2:00 pm-10:00 pm and Saturday Sunday 8:30 am 4:30 pm
  • Week Two: Monday-Friday 2:00 pm-10:00 pm.

In addition there is flexibility needed depending on the needs of the program such as staff coverage and emergencies and may include day swing overnight and weekend hours.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU

As a Residential Disabilities Program Assistant your day will be dynamic and fulfilling. You will start by engaging with residents assisting them in developing essential social skills and effectively communicating their needs. Throughout the day you will provide support with daily living activities ensuring high personal hygiene and medical needs are met while maintaining safety. You will collaborate closely with the Program Coordinator to plan and execute various in-home and community activities tailored to each individuals goals while actively monitoring and participating in the implementation of Person Centered Service Plans and Behavior Supports. Additionally you will assist in training new staff managing shopping for necessary supplies and overseeing client finances all while fostering a supportive environment that emphasizes independence and well-being.

This Assistant position is over the Sage Residential Group Home. This position supports 4 clients and 4 Direct Support Professionals. The Program Assistant helps the Coordinator plan and execute all aspects of running this program including ensuring compliance with state and contract standards for programs and facilities. This Assistant will support individuals in the program with medical appointments social skills assistance with transfers personal care needs behavior management communication safety recreation and leisure and various other skills to learn independence in their lives. The individuals in this program enjoy being active and doing lots of fun activities both at home and out and about.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A RESIDENTIAL DISABILITIES PROGRAM ASSISTANT:

  • 6 months of work experience with individuals who have developmental or intellectual disabilities preferably with a focus on challenging behaviors
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Reliable personal transportation a valid drivers license current motor vehicle insurance and a clean driving record
  • Driving large program buses and vans as well as being willing to train new employees to drive large vehicles.

  • Knowledge of general medical conditions
  • Ability to produce and review business letters and reports
  • Capability to perform administrative functions related to financial reporting and other duties
  • Strong organizational prioritizing and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skills in relationship building with individuals families and team members as well as compelling personal stress management
  • Willingness to complete required training within three months of employment
