ACCT 203: Introduction to Accounting for Managers

The Department of Accounting at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2025to teach ACCT 203: Introduction to Accounting for Department of Accounting delivers classes in-person on the San Marcos campus.

Course Description

Introduces accounting information used by managers in business decision-making. Financial accounting modules introduce how firms use financial statements to communicate financial conditions and results of operations to their stakeholders. Managerial accounting modules address how accountants produce managerial accounting information for internal decision-making. Also includes environment of financial reporting internal control systems analysis of financial statements alternatives to financial reporting introduction to tax accounting and introduction to accounting for not-for-profit and government organizations.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in business
  • Extensive work experience in the area of accounting.
  • Per the California State Universitys Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications

  • A masters in accounting or taxation or a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in accounting from a regionally accredited university.
  • Current U.S. CPA License or U.S. CMA License
  • Experience teaching at a four-year university and/or community college.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching and as applicable service.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • AnticipatedHiring Salary Range: $5507 - $6677 per full-time month

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary RangeLecturer A - AY: $5507 - $6677 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience.
