About the Role
The Quality Engineer position is a key contributor to maintaining and improving manufacturing quality systems in a metal fabrication environment. This role supports process improvement ensures compliance with ISO standards and drives root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. Located in Rothschild WI this position offers hands-on involvement with quality control processes supplier quality and production support. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality assurance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements
- Monitor manufacturing processes and perform inspections to identify defects or deviations
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action investigations using tools such as 8D Fishbone and 5 Whys
- Analyze quality data and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering production and supply chain to resolve quality-related issues
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and coordinating activities
- Manage non-conformance reports and follow up with suppliers or internal teams for resolution
- Maintain calibration schedules and ensure accuracy of measurement tools and equipment
- Conduct process capability studies and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA)
- Familiarity with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality software tools such as Minitab
Desired Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) through ASQ
- Experience with metal fabrication or welding operations
- Familiarity with GD&T and precision measurement equipment
- Knowledge of APQP FMEA and PPAP processes
- Experience with ERP systems and quality modules
