Job Description

What youll have

  • Certificate III in Process Plant Operations is desirable.
  • Mechanical or electrical/instrumentation trade background or relevant qualification (highly regarded).
  • Practical knowledge of SCADA GIS and field IT systems.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline equipment electronic diagnostics and maintenance procedures.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience in a high-pressure pipeline operations environment or relevant industries.
  • Exposure to land access environmental regulations and stakeholder negotiation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to health safety and environmental compliance in all operations.

Join our team in Townsville as a Pipeline Operator and Maintainer where youll play a vital role in the safe efficient and effective operation of the North Queensland Gas Pipeline. In this key position youll be responsible for maintaining and operating pipeline assets ensuring reliability and safety while prioritising environmental stewardship supply security and stakeholder engagement. This is a fantastic chance to contribute to critical infrastructure in a role that values proactive maintenance operational excellence and strong community relationships. This is a permanent Monday to Thursday (38 hours per week) role with a rotational on-call component so we are looking for someone who resides locally to Townsville or surrounding area.

What youll do

  • Supporting the Pipeline Supervisor with reporting inputs.
  • Conducting integrity inspections and maintenance on pipelines pigging operations cathodic protection monitoring and general mechanical and or electrical repairs.
  • Perform fault finding diagnostics and minor repairs on plant and field equipment.
  • Performing valve and pipeline infrastructure maintenance (e.g. greasing leak testing corrosion control).
  • Maintaining accurate landowner and third-party permit records.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the pipeline Right of Way (ROW) via ground and aerial patrols including depth checks vegetation control erosion repair and signage upkeep.
  • Supervising third-party activities near the pipeline to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Assisting in safety audits civil maintenance and planning of major works.
  • Operate and monitor field systems including SCADA GIS and electronic interface systems.
  • Respond to operational issues and alarms via the SCADA system emergency situations and participate in on-call duties as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities inspections and field reports.
  • Liaise professionally with landowners contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety environmental and regulatory standards.
