Job Description

Description

The Mentoring Manager at BYU-Pathway Worldwide plays a key role in supporting student retention and progress across EnglishConnect PathwayConnect and Certificate and Degree programs. This role is focused on operational delivery and continuous improvement of mentoring systems practices and partnerships. The manager oversees the mentoring team and third-party mentoring providers to ensure students reach critical retention milestones particularly those at risk of dropping out. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment and Retention the Mentoring Manager translates strategy into practice manages staff performance and monitors key metrics that drive persistence matriculation and completion.

This full-time position typically works (Monday Friday between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm). This position is a hybrid position

Responsibilities

(60%) Lead Mentoring Operations to Improve Retention and Completion Outcomes

  1. Supervise full-time mentoring staff part-time mentors and third-party service partners.
  2. Ensure proactive timely and focused interventions for students identified as at-risk for not retaining through data and occasional referrals.
  3. Oversee and continuously improve onboarding training and support systems for mentoring staff.
  4. Collaborate with Enrollment to align mentoring efforts with pipeline touchpoints and term-based priorities.
  5. Maintain operational tools documentation and systems that support consistent student mentoring experience.
  6. Serve as primary liaison to Springboard mentoring staff ensuring alignment on training communication and execution.

(40%) Collaborate and Report on Key Retention Milestones

  1. Monitor and report on mentoring activity engagement and student progression through defined retention milestones.
  2. Participate in cross-functional working groups to align efforts with curriculum field support and enrollment.
  3. Propose improvements to mentoring workflows and systems based on trend data and student feedback.
  4. Support leadership and peer training as needed.
  5. Maintain working knowledge of programs policies and procedures related to retention success.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field required masters preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum five years of professional experience in mentoring student success counseling social work coaching or related fields. Prior leadership experience in a student support setting is essential. Experience working with diverse and at-risk populations is strongly preferred.
