The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $120000 - $140000 per year. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.
The pay range is not guaranteed compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors including skill set experience location qualifications and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards such as a discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
The Site Manager plays a key role in ensuring the successful on-site execution of GEA projects. This position is responsible for overseeing all erection and commissioning activities ensuring they are completed on time within budget and in accordance with GEAs high standards for quality safety and customer satisfaction. The role requires strong leadership and coordination skills with an understanding of how design decisions impact procurement fabrication construction and long-term operation of the plant. This position requires frequent travelup to 85% of the timeto project sites across North America and potentially internationally.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary GEA representative on site throughout the installation and commissioning phases until project completion and handover.
- Act as the lead point of contact for the customer on site.
- Lead and coordinate all site activities including planning and breakdown of tasks.
- Ensure adherence to Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards; act as the responsible person for HSE on site.
- Supervise installation crews and ensure work is completed in line with GEA quality standards.
- Oversee equipment and material logistics including expediting delivery storage site access and documentation.
- Track on-site labor hours and report through installation activity sheets.
- Manage the site installation schedule and report updates or deviations to the Project Manager.
- Monitor the installation budget and promptly communicate any variances to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate closely with internal project management the customer and external vendors to ensure smooth execution.
- Assist with Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operational Qualification (OQ) activities.
- Estimate labor hours for site scope changes and provide input during planning stages.
- Conduct site hazard analyses and ensure all necessary safety precautions are taken.
- Manage site consumables tools and ensure proper site housekeeping.
- Support design change order estimations and subcontractor/vendor bid processes during construction.
- Troubleshoot issues on site and identify cost-effective value-engineered solutions.
- Contribute to meeting project financial targets and support the development of corrective action plans as needed.
Your Profile / Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in site supervision or at least 5 years as a Site Manager in industrial equipment or plant installations.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong background in project management hygienic design equipment installation and sanitary welding practices.
- Problem Solver: Proactive mindset with a strong drive to overcome challenges and meet high standards.
- Adaptability: Flexible and solution-oriented able to work around scheduling conflicts or project constraints.
- Local Knowledge: Understanding of local regulations cultural practices and environmental conditions.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams maintain discipline and foster a collaborative and productive work atmosphere.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
- EHS & Quality Awareness: Broad knowledge of site safety quality control documentation and best practices in equipment handling.
- Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with typical equipment used in food beverage or pharmaceutical process lines and related testing/commissioning procedures.
- Warehouse & Logistics: Understanding of material control warehouse procedures and handling of heavy equipment.
- Financial Acumen: Proficient in project cost control budgeting and reporting.
