The mathematics teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary School instructs pupils using evidence-based data-driven methodologies that challenges students to discover Gods gifts spiritually intellectually socially and physically. Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) School is appropriately sized to facilitate the educational development of its students. Its low student-to-teacher ratios enable personalized instruction tailored to diverse learning styles supported by a comprehensive curriculum. Responsible for instructional planning including providing written lesson plans preparing according to program objectives setting positive learning expectations for all pupils evaluating progress and maintaining accurate achievement records. QUALIFICATIONS: - Current State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with a major or minor in math.
- Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching and understanding of classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience and or proven proficiency in working with children.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Current State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with a major or minor in science.
- Skill in the application of contemporary principles and practices of teaching good oral and written communication skills good interpersonal skills and skill in exercising sound and professional judgment.
- At least three years of experience supporting adolescents or young adults
- Must be able to successfully clear background checks associated with the job.
- The preferred applicant is a practicing Catholic and demonstrates enthusiasm for sharing their faith with children through both knowledge and actions.
STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: - Delivery of a well-structured and paced instructional program that includes learning activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of all students. This program should promote mastery of learning standards and social-emotional goals with the flexibility to modify instruction as needed.
- Applying current learning and teaching principles using available instructional materials and developing and implementing new techniques in areas of interest that reflect pupils current work.
- Selects or develops rigorous and valid summative and formative assessments aimed at analyzing student outcomes to guide instructional decisions; ensures that student learning activities are driven by data collected from these assessments.
- Effectively uses relevant information and materials from IHM to address students social and behavioral needs. Participates in programs aimed at improving attendance fostering Virtues and promoting positive self-concept. Engages in efforts across classrooms playgrounds corridors and lunchrooms in accordance with the IHM Code of Conduct.
- Complies with procedures and policies outlined within the internal IHM Policy Manuals as well as Lansing Diocese federal state and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the school faculty and administration to explore self-reflection and professional growth opportunities promoting high levels of learning for all students.
- Establishes and maintains transparent communication channels with parents and counsels pupils on the pupils academic progress attendance and conduct.
- Participates in team activities in-service meetings and professional staff meetings to continually enhance the educational and behavioral programs offered.
- May coordinate and attend class field trips participate in extracurricular activities and utilize available community resources.
- Participate in effectively designing academic programs that foster critical thinking skills for academic theoretical and real-life contexts.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally or 10 pounds frequently or negligible force constantly to move objects.
- Demands include occasional stooping frequent reaching constant talking and hearing and frequent visual acuity.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and a professional attitude at all times
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Principal of IHM School.
