Junior Software Engineer

DESE Research Inc. seeks a Junior Software Engineer to join an exciting and growing team focused on the research and development of emerging cyber security practices and technologies that will harden and secure both existing and future systems used throughout the Department of Defense. This position is in Huntsville AL.

The candidate will join a team of engineers solving challenging problems faced by the DoD in ensuring our national security interests. The candidate will focus on the development of frameworks using specialized tools to advance our ability to perform dynamic analysis of software and fuzz testing in a variety of scenarios. Some of the work will require independent research and analysis in addition to gaining experience by working with engineers and cybersecurity analysts within other teams.

Education and Work Experience
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Computer Information Systems or equivalent technical field

US Government Security Clearance Eligibility
Applicants must possess an existing Secret security clearance and be eligible for TS/SCI

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience with programming languages such as C Sharp (C#)
• Experience with Language Integrated Query (LINQ) within languages such as C#
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python JavaScript Ruby Bash
• Ability to develop and debug software within a Windows or Linux environment
• Familiarity with the Agile software development process
• Familiarity with Extract Transform Load (ETL) development methodologies
• Ability to execute test-driven development with writing tests and executing them in an automated test framework
• Ability to work on a small team in a fast-paced collaborative and dynamic environment
• Strength in converting design concepts into quality software applications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bonus Skills

• Working knowledge of the Angular UI framework
• Experience with deployments within cloud environments such as AWS
• Familiarity with git collaborative development and version control
