Middle School Building SubstituteJob Goal: As substitute teachers you are responsible for the continuity of instruction in the absence of a regular faculty member.
Responsibilities:- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information;
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies;
- Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health welfare and safety of all students;
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities;
- Report to office upon arrival and departure at school;
- Review lesson plans materials and/or instructions left by absent teacher;
- Report student injuries accidents illnesses or discipline problems to the school principal immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible;
- Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate;
- Organize students for effective instruction;
- Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building;
- Comply with and support school and district regulations and policies;
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school policies and practices.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Assume and carry out daily classroom activities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- The ability to maintain effective classroom management
- The ability to follow oral and written directions;
- The ability to effectively manage an individual program plan for students with special needs;
- The ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students;
- The ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgments;
- The ability to display problem solving and conflict resolution strategies with students; and
- The ability to use classroom instructional time appropriately and wisely.
Qualifications:- Candidate must be at least 18 years of age;
- Education graduation from an accredited high school or college; and
- Successful completion of background check C.O.R.I. and fingerprinting.
