Framatome is a major international player in the nuclear energy market recognised for its innovative solutions and value-added technologies for designing building maintaining and advancing the global nuclear fleet. The company designs manufactures and installs components fuel and instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants and offers a full range of reactor services.
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
The I&C System engineer will be responsible for supporting the activities around I&C specification of the system design teams ultimately ensuring the delivery of design documentation and datapackages in time and quality. This includes functional specification for the different I&C platforms (Standard I&C Protection system and Hardwired Backup System). They are supported by I&C coordinators and systems engineers.
They are operationally reporting to the System Group Lead and functionally to the System Elecricxal and I&C Discipline Manager.
The tasks comprise but are not limited to:
Defining the I&C functional requirements cascading nuclear safety conventional safety environmental and operational requirements into system design
Application of internal engineering guidelines
Defining the I&C logic using internal engineering tool DFD
Writing the test procedure and testing the control logic using the internal engineering tool validDFD and analysis of the FTP (Fonctional Test Procedure) results
Defining the human machine interface in the main control room using the internal engineering tool Conduite
Documenting the I&C requirements in the respective parts of the System Design Manual chapters
Performing technical peer reviews of I&C documents produced by other engineers in the team
Management of modifications related to the system including:
o Managing requests for modifications to system(s) issued by various external parties by producing specifications and following engineering cycle (I&C design changes specifications)
o Analysis and verification of the applicability of these modifications and challenging them as appropriate
o Developing technical solutions and presenting them to the client to help resolve technical issues (technico-economic optimisation approach)
o Utilising the Engineering Change Management tools (UKDC and FUTE databases) to ensure full traceability of the changes required and associated impacts
Analysis and verification of input data requirements and lessons learnt from other stations
