13 weeks Days/Nights 12-Hour Shift 36 hours per week guaranteed

Oversees the daily operations of the CT Department; plans assigns supervises and reviews the work of staff involved in the delivery of CT services. Flexes as needed to cover shifts; includes evenings nights weekends holidays and on-call hours. Accepts primary responsibility for assuring regulatory compliance implementation of staffing plan and management of equipment maintenance. Maintains ARRT certification in CT and performs and demonstrates competency in all routine and advanced level CT procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. Performs computed tomography procedures and related techniques. Administers x-radiation to produce a diagnosis
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform diagnostic computed tomography procedures and techniques as required by CT Tech 2.
- Is responsible for daily operational tasks such as: Patient flow delegation of duties and assignment of tasks.
- Maintains smooth and efficient workflow in the CT Department; is an active participant in scanning patients daily.
- Responds to technical questions concerns and problems from CT and other Mercy staff including physicians.
- Reports and documents CT safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
- Troubleshot equipment problems and coordinates with the Manager and BioMed to ensure unplanned downtime is managed
- Ensures adequate par levels of supplies and linen; reorders as necessary.
- Assists with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
- In collaboration with the Manager/Supervisor ensures compliance with regulatory bodies; completes and submits required QA metrics.
- Helps to identify areas where improvement may be necessary.
- Assists Department Manager/Supervisor with training for new installations and upgrades to equipment and software for CT as appropriate for the site and licenses held.
- Interviews hires and oversees the orientation of new partners.
- Participates in and/or completes performance appraisals and meets regularly with partners to provide feedback.
- Maintains training competency and orientation documents.
- Assists with the supervision of radiography students. Provides input regarding student evaluations.
- Assists leadership with regular staff meetings.
- Maintains and renews accreditation for ACR and the state.
- Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
- Evaluates the accuracy and quality of scans and provides technical assistance to staff whenever necessary.
- Assists Manager/Supervisor in monitoring quality assurance program to conform to federal state local and facility regulations and guidelines.
- Consults on work in progress to assure accuracy and completes work.
- Performs and trains specialized and more difficult procedures.
- Reviews current literature and attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in the field.
- Expert-level knowledge of electronic medical records and PACS and imaging equipment
- Maintains policies and procedures for the CT department with input from the Director Manager and Radiologists.
- Ensures proper staff scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years CT experience
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited radiography program
Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:
- ARRT Radiography registration required
- ARRT Computed Tomography registration required
- IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation is required
- Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
EMR System: EPIC experience preferred
Shift: Monday to Friday Day Shift Hours; May occasionally be required to help with staffing and work outside of standard M-F Day Shift Hours
