Director of Communications (Finance / Insurance)
Strategic corporate communications contract role in the insurance industry supporting global functions such as Legal Audit Risk and Actuarial. Utilize your storytelling executive advising and internal engagement expertise in a hybrid Toronto or Waterloo setting. Strong focus on culture transformation and high-impact content delivery.

Incorporated Business Rate: $51-56 per hour.
12-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute end-to-end internal communication plans supporting various global functions.
Advise and partner with executive leadership to ensure communications are aligned with strategic goals.
Lead storytelling and content development across multiple channels: email (Staffbase) Teams SharePoint intranet and digital signage.
Manage editorial calendars and campaign distribution lists.
Plan and support internal events (town halls fireside chats lunch & learns) including content and logistics.
Track analyze and report on campaign effectiveness using tools such as Excel Smartsheet Forms and PowerPoint.
Ensure continuous alignment with global colleague communications and corporate strategies.
Build a consistent narrative that promotes employee engagement clarity of purpose and cultural alignment.
What you will need to succeed:
Bachelor s degree in communications marketing journalism English or a related field.
8 10 years of corporate communications experience ideally within a large complex organization.
Proven success managing multiple projects and communications streams in a fast-paced environment.
Experience across multiple communication disciplines such as strategy communication transformation messaging employee engagement and storytelling.
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
Excellent interpersonal influencing and negotiation skills across all levels of an organization.
Strong experience advising executives and handling confidential information with professionalism.
High attention to detail accuracy and the ability to multitask effectively.
Financial services or insurance industry experience is strongly preferred.
