Job description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible of the development of Technical Deliverables (Mechanical developments Calculation Design Specification Design Review etc.) in the scope of Framatome Limited. The role is based in the Design Office in Avonmouth United Kingdom (travelling to other sites in the UK and abroad is part of the role).
The role consists in delivering mechanical studies through the lifecycle of the engineering developments in accordance with the Framatome Limited processes procedures and instructions. The Mechanical Engineer has a primary role in supplying solutions to the Design Package by ensuring all Requirements reviewed analysed and satisfied from the conceptual phase to the detailed design and release of deliverables.
The Mechanical Engineer is constantly seeking optimisation within the Engineering processes procedures and instructions and is actively participating in Design Reviews as well as HSE activities in relation to the Engineering Department.
You will be responsible for:
Performing full lifecycle product development
- Providing Engineering support for projects to estimate scope of work and support Engineering Design Manager for budgeting activities.
- Interpreting design requirements from customers.
- Working with the Engineering Team to provide designs of products and design for test rigs.
- Understand and define HSE requirements & CDM regulations.
- Working with suppliers to define components for projects.
- Proactively seeking best solutions and work autonomously.
- Verifying engineering designs.
- Writing technical reports utilising information from the analysis.
- Providing supporting calculations and information for designs.
- Development of project literature such as test and decommissioning procedures.
- Actively participating in Design Reviews as well as HSE Reviews in order to assess whether a modification requires an impact analysis of the Design Requirements.
- Ensuring the solutions identified during Design Reviews are correctly implemented.
- Managing Design changes and Design Configurations.
- Producing and verifying Technical Documentation in accordance with Framatome Limited processes procedures and instructions.
Conducting experiments preparation and support
- Development of project literature such as test commissioning and decommissioning procedures.
- Analysis of results.
- Writing technical reports utilising information from the analysis.
- Presenting test findings to the business.
Support Business development
- Assist business development as technical support.
- Technically support the bid process writing technical proposals and collecting costs for engineering activities.
- Engineering networking with companies and trade associations.
- Assisting in engineering graduate development.
Profile
Required Attributes:
- Mechanical Engineering (MEng or equivalent)
- Working experience with Product Lifecycle Management
- Document Revision Control
- Manufacturing Fabrication processes knowledge
- Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics kinematics thermodynamics material sciences etc.
- Calculation (hand calculation Excel etc.)
- FMEA HAZOP
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
- Engineering standards knowledge.
- HSE and Quality knowledge.
Desired Attributes:
- Mastering of ISO Standards for Drafting and Dimensioning.
- FEA and CFD software experience.
- Design codes (British Europe USA) & Eurocodes experience.
- Work in Nuclear Industry.
- CAD software experience (preferably SolidWorks)
- Pressure Equipment Directive.
- Coordinating Work Packages.
