Job Description

ABOUT US

As the peak body for Victorian sexual assault and harmful sexual behaviours services Sexual Assault Services Victoria (SASVic) provides leadership in preventing and responding to sexual assault. This is a time of significant growth for SASVic responding to profound changes in community attitudes to and government focus on sexual violence. We have recently changed from a network (CASA Forum) to a peak body expanded our membership taken on new projects and are working to shape landmark state reforms. We are now looking for new staff so we can better drive policy and practice change. We are seeking to build a staff team that is representative of the diversity of the clients of our member services.

Tenure: July 2025 to 30th June 2026

Salary: $75000 to $100000

FTE: 1.0 FTE

Office location: Our office is currently in the CBD.

Flexibility: Hybrid work environment required to work 2 days minimum from the office Melbourne CBD . Other days can be worked from home or the office according to the preferences of the staff member. There is scope to negotiate working hours to accommodate caring or other responsibilities.

Travel: Travel may be required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Community Education and Training Officer will play a key role in the development and delivery of a range of training programs to build community capability to prevent and respond to sexual violence.

Reporting to the Team Leader Education and Training the successful candidate will be required to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all SASVic staff to achieve our shared aims.

You will do this by:

  • Delivering existing community education and training programs that support prevention and response to sexual violence (For example responding to disclosure of sexual assault).
  • Working with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to refine and develop new engaging best-practice community education packages across a range of topics.
  • Design and develop key training resources and training collateral including trainer guides and participant materials to support in person hybrid and/or online training.
  • Designing training pilots and evaluation frameworks to monitor current and new community education programs.
  • Gathering and collating information for and preparing documentation and reports to provide accurate timely and complete information which enables planning review and continual improvement of the SASVic community education portfolio.
  • Participating in organisational development activities required to support the growth of SASVic.
  • Analysing and creating instruments to measure learning successes across key metrics and deliver findings to senior leaders.
  • Flexible attitude to training requests internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate initiative in developing training related grant and funding applications to support the goals of SASVic
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts trainers and stakeholders to ensure training content is accurate relevant and engaging.

What you bring to the role

Essential

  • Relevant formal qualifications this could include a qualification relevant to working directly in the sector such as social work or a qualification in training and/or education (e.g. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment). In the absence of formal qualifications relevant equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience delivering community education programs in the context of health community or social care.
  • Experience in continuous improvement of training products that are targeted to meet specified outcomes for specific audiences.
  • Well-developed project management skills.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement capacity building and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly those required to support a hybrid working and training.
  • A deep commitment to ending sexual assault and the rights and recovery of victim survivors.
  • Flexibility to work across different teams when needed.

Desirable

  • Experience working in the sexual assault family violence or health sector(s) or working in a membership organisation.
  • Feminist understanding of the dynamics causes and impacts of sexual violence at an individual social and political level.

Additionally you

  • must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
  • must have a current Australian police check (and international where applicable) and Victorian Working with Children Check.

We are located in a central office location but also offer flexibility to work partly from home (if you choose to).
