Job Description

25% -Office and Clerical Support
  • Answer phones and respond to emails in a professional and timely manner
  • Perform general office tasks such as copying printing and filing
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
25% - Resource Management
  • Enter new resources into the online catalog
  • Place items on reserve as requested
  • Check materials in and out using the circulation system
  • Maintain accurate and organized circulation records
25% - Instructional Space Support
  • Assist patrons in using the computer lab and active learning classrooms
  • Ensure instructional spaces are clean organized and ready for use
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for hardware and software issues

25% - Multimedia and Digital Project Support

  • Assist patrons with editing digital audio and video files
  • Support the creation of interactive web content
  • Use tools such as Audacity iMovie Adobe Premiere or similar software

Position Overview
Technology Assistants are the first point of contact for patrons using the Open Language Resource Center and provide essential clerical and technical support to ensure smooth daily operations. Technology Assistants also support patrons in using the centers instructional spaces which include a computer lab and two active learning classrooms. In addition they assist with multimedia projects involving the editing of digital audio and video as well as the creation of interactive web content. This role requires strong attention to detail familiarity with digital tools and a commitment to providing excellent customer service in a dynamic learning environment.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
