Clinical Service Expectations


Service as a surgeon in the Division of Vascular Surgery within the Department of Surgery with an active inpatient and outpatient practice.
Expectation of meeting/exceeding established departmental clinical goals.
Call coverage responsibility with the section at Emory University Hospital/ Clifton Campus. Coverage includes Emory University Hospital the VA medical center and Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. As business need arises other Emory Healthcare locations may be added to the groups responsibilities.
Responsibilities subject to change at the discretion of departmental leadership to address needs and opportunities.

Teaching Expectations:

In keeping with the School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment Promotion and Tenure you will expected to participate in teaching which may include occasional lectures small group and bedside teaching preceptorship and mentorship.

Leadership Role Expectations:

As Co-Director of the Aortic Center you will be responsible for overseeing and advancing all clinical administrative and strategic aspects of Aortic care at Emory. Your counterpart in this mission will be the centers co-director from the division of cardiothoracic surgery. The centers co-leadership structure was created to optimize collaboration between cardiac surgery and vascular surgery. The Emory Aortic Center is one of the true differentiators for the Heart and Vascular Service Line at Emory with its unique expertise in complex aortic surgery. It is the highest volume aortic program in the Southeastern United States and one of the ten largest programs nationally. Your primary focus will be to develop the aortic program into a globally leading program in quality volume and offerings. This will include the development and implementation of comprehensive transfer system of acute aortic conditions into Emory Hospitals. In addition you will conduct outreach activities in collaboration with other medical specialties to enhance the detection and treatment of patients with aortic diseases in the state. The clinical goals include improving survival from aortic diseases and enhancing patient experiences and outcomes. The success of the program will be measured by the overall growth of the volume of aortic open and endovascular interventions in Emory Healthcare growth in the number of aortic patient encounters quality measures and patient experience metrics. Furthermore your role involves the management of program budgets the optimization of resource allocation and the establishment of strong relationships with referring physicians patients and families. Your leadership and vision will be crucial in driving the program towards achieving its mission of improving quality of life for patients with aortic conditions.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
