DescriptionThe Finance Auditor plays a key role in the financial oversight of non-congregate sheltering operations by conducting final audits of hotel invoice packets. This position works closely with hotel auditors project leadership and finance personnel to ensure complete accurate and compliant billing prior to submission. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting and auditing skills and is highly detail-oriented. Experience with FEMA Public Assistance is a plus but not required.
Essential Functions
- Perform final reviews of invoice packets submitted by NCS Hotel Auditors verifying accuracy completeness and compliance with internal protocols and applicable regulations.
- Cross-check documentation such as folios occupancy records rate sheets and supporting backup for accuracy.
- Ensure all required documents are present and properly formatted before approval.
- Identify discrepancies omissions or inconsistencies and coordinate with field staff to resolve issues.
- Track common errors or trends and provide feedback to hotel auditors or leadership for quality improvement.
- Stay current on contract billing requirements rate changes and allowable cost guidelines.
- Collaborate with the finance team to prepare documentation for submission to clients or auditors.
- Assist with refining audit checklists SOPs and training materials for consistency and compliance.
- Provide ad-hoc support to leadership related to data validation invoice research or reporting.
Requirements- Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in financial auditing invoice review or similar accounting work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; strong understanding of spreadsheet formulas and reconciliation techniques.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle high volume of documentation with consistency and accuracy.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with disaster recovery programs including FEMA Public Assistance or non-congregate sheltering.
- Familiarity with federal and state billing guidelines.
- Experience working with hotel vendors contractors or invoice packet systems.
