Job Description
- Location: Watertown NY 13601
- Duration: 13-weeks Contract
- Shift: 8-hr Days (start time: 5:30 AM or 6:00 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekly Pay: $2400 - $2600
- Prepare and process tissue specimens according to standardized histological procedures.
- Embed tissue in paraffin blocks section using a microtome and place on slides.
- Perform routine and special staining techniques (e.g. H&E PAS IHC).
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory procedures.
- Operate and maintain histology laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Assist pathologists with slide preparation and ensure slides are ready for diagnosis.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Follow all laboratory safety and infection control guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or staining issues as needed.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies for the histology lab.
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology Biology or Chemistry
OR - HTL (Histotechnologist) certification from a recognized agency (e.g. ASCP)
- Required: Histotechnician AAS
- Required: New York State Clinical Laboratory License
- Locals accepted-local pay rates will apply to candidates residing within a 60-mile radius.
