Job Description

Job Title: Heart Failure ICU Nurse Practitioner
Location: Houston TX (Texas Medical Center)
Job Type: Full-Time Night Shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM)
Salary Range: As per Exp.
Work Schedule: 12-hour night shifts rotating weekends & holidays no on-call requirement
Geographic Differential: Additional 8% for working in the Texas Medical Center

Job Summary:

As a Heart Failure ICU Nurse Practitioner youll be a vital member of a leading team of cardiovascular and critical care professionals providing comprehensive patient management for advanced heart failure cases and post-cardiac surgery recovery.

Youll work with a high-acuity patient population including LVAD ECMO VV/VA ECMO mechanical circulatory support and heart/lung transplant patients. We are looking for a committed AGACNP with a strong background in critical care or cardiology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-hospital patient care including systemic assessments diagnoses treatment plans and follow-ups.

  • Manage complex cardiac patients including those with advanced heart failure ECMO LVADs and transplants.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  • Support recovery care for post-op cardiac surgery patients.

  • Participate in quality initiatives and maintain compliance with clinical protocols and Texas Nurse Practice Act standards.

Required Qualifications:
  • AGACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) certification required.

  • Current Texas RN and APRN license in good standing.

  • National certification from ANCC AANP AACN or NCC in an Acute Care specialty.

  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Minimum 2-3 years of RN or NP experience in Critical Care/ICU/Cardiac Care settings.

  • Experience working with heart failure LVADs ECMO cardiac surgery or transplant patients.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):
  • Previous NP experience in Acute Care ICU or Cardiovascular ICU.

  • RN experience with fresh transplants CV recovery and advanced cardiac technologies.

  • Passion for serving high-acuity heart failure populations in a high-volume hospital setting.
