Job Summary:
This role is for a Sterile Processing Technician responsible for the decontamination sterilization assembly and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies in a Level II Trauma Center. The technician will work a 5x8-hour day shift with rotating weekends providing support for inpatient outpatient and trauma services. Experience in various surgical specialties is required and on-call responsibilities are included.

Responsibilities:
- Decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Sterilization of instruments and supplies using appropriate methods.
- Assembly and wrapping of instrument trays and sets.
- Case cart preparation and distribution.
- High-level disinfection (HLD) procedures.
- Maintaining inventory of supplies.
- Scrubbing in for surgical procedures (as needed).
- Working in a fast-paced environment with a high daily caseload.
- Adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Participation in a 3-day orientation program.
- Rotating weekend on-call responsibilities.
- Experience with various surgical specialties (Ortho Urology Endo/Laparoscopic Vascular Thoracic Neuro Gyn Bariatrics Plastics Podiatry ENT Transplant Robotics Implants; Ophthalmology preferred).
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
- Certification as a CBSPD or IAHCSMM.
- Experience in inpatient outpatient and trauma settings.
- Experience with sterilization decontamination assembly/wrapping case cart preparation HLD and scrubbing.
- Experience with a wide range of surgical specialties.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of working (if applicable).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with SPM (Surgical Process Management) software.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Experience in ophthalmology.
Special Considerations:
- On-call rotation required on weekends.
- Block scheduling is not accommodated; case-by-case consideration possible.
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
- 3-day orientation required upon hire.
- No COVID-19 vaccination exemptions accepted.
- Level II Trauma Center environment.
Scheduling:
- 5 days a week 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday.
- Rotating weekends (possibly twice per month).
- Shift assignment is not specified but a preferred shift should be indicated during the application process.
