Job Description

Job Summary:

The GMS Applications Engineer provides support for Energy Management Systems (EMS) power systems applications including design development testing validation and implementation of modifications and enhancements. This role involves troubleshooting proactive improvements and issue remediation for various applications. The engineer will work under the direction of senior staff adhering to regulations and policies and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Responsibilities:

- Understand and apply principles related to the profession.
- Exercise judgment within defined procedures.
- Respond to inquiries and provide assistance to lower-level workers.
- Work under the direction of senior engineers to complete goals.
- Perform work according to applicable rules and regulations.
- Support and troubleshoot EMMS applications and system on-call issues.
- Assist in proactive enhancements and issue remediation for OTS and Real Time Power System Applications.
- Coordinate application setup and testing with Market Participants.
- Perform model load testing and update model data in real-time.
- Design and test Energy and Market Management System changes.
- Verify and support Energy and Market Management applications during site failovers.
- Validate Energy and Market Management applications during upgrades and patching.
- Support the execution of EMMS Disaster Recovery Drills and business continuity procedures.
- Maintain troubleshoot and repair EMMS and OTS applications and interfaces.
- Provide on-the-job training or oversee the work of other engineers/analysts.
- Act as a consultant and subject matter expert in projects affecting EMMS and OTS environments.
- Participate in multifunctional teams to obtain input and provide application support.
- Represent the EMMS Production Support Team at meetings.
- Develop tools processes and procedures to enhance system reliability.
- Participate with other departments to select and implement system changes.
- Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert for the department.
- Work with database administrators and infrastructure teams on complex application issues.
- Test Non-Functional requirements of application changes and coordinate with database/infrastructure teams.
- Foster strong working relationships with other internal departments.
- Guide projects and help teammates.
- Demonstrate skills as an expert user of power system software applications spreadsheet programs and database programs.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and industry best practices.
