Job Description

JD:

A skilled candidate with extensive experience in Sybase database administration and development up to and including version 16.x. Experience of administrating other RDBMS ideally on the cloud would be a distinct advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Installing configuring patching and maintaining Sybase databases across Development and Test environments.

  • Provide Development support including writing and debugging stored procedures testing scripts mock data creation.
  • Monitoring and analysing Sybase logs to ensure database availability and integrity.
  • Creation and maintenance of databases roles and permissions performance tuning query optimization and backup/recovery.
  • Security Management: Ensuring databases environments are secure compliant and in line with Bank standards.
  • Experience debugging tuning modifying and creating complex stored procedures.
  • Using knowledge and experience around security backup recovery and archiving make recommendations regarding process improvements.
  • Utilize database and shell scripting for routine database tasks.

Experience/Qualifications

  • 5 years experience working as a Sybase Database Administrator.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable writing and analysing complicated stored procedures involving queries using complex joins and filter criteria.
  • Batch scripting skills. PowerShell is a plus.
  • Not mandatory but some Java knowledge is a plus.
