Provides tutoring and support services to students in Academic Skills Advancement General Education and entry-level program courses with a focus on Health Sciences
Essential Functions:
- Provide individualized and group tutoring in a manner that helps students become independent successful learners
- Provides specialized tutoring in Ivy Tech courses with special concentrations in anatomy and physiology pharmacology dosage calculation medical terminology microbiology clinical and laboratory procedures and any other related health science course
- Develop study plans with students and evaluate outcomes
- Assess and administer Learning Styles inventory to student when needed
- Refer students to the appropriate departments for further assistance
- Provide assistance in the use of approximately 30 computer software programs and applications
- Instruct and encourage basic skills students as well as program level students in learning and utilizing effective study skills and other college success techniques
- Guide students in the use of software programs and/or web-based applications related to Ivy Tech coursework.
- Maintain a tutoring schedule and tutoring records for each student
- Follow college and Tutoring Services policies and guidelines
- Interact with instructors to stay abreast of course changes new textbook adoptions student requirements of courses and requests for topics tutored
- Market tutoring services to increase faculty and student awareness of CAE

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a health sciences field preferred with work experience in an educational setting
- Computer literacy and knowledge in word processing programs are required. Knowledge in Windows and related software applications preferred
- Possess a working understanding of college level skills needed by students
- Tutoring or teaching experience at the adult level preferred
- Self-initiating individual with strong verbal and interpersonal skills as well as a strong desire to see students succeed
- Ability to work independently
- Work with a diversified population
