Job Description
Job Title: Senior Architectural Designer
Location: Phnom Penh Cambodia
Salary: $2500-$4000 per month plus package
Open to: Local and expat
Purpose Statement
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Architectural Designer to lead our design team. The ideal candidate will be a creative and technical expert responsible for driving the entire design process from initial concept to the successful completion of construction. This role requires a strong leader who can ensure design excellence technical precision and project profitability on a variety of residential and commercial projects. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the built environment mentoring junior staff and upholding the highest standards of quality and innovation in all architectural endeavors.
Job Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Spearhead the full-cycle design process for a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial projects from conceptual and schematic design through to the development of comprehensive construction drawings.
- Design Excellence: Ensure all design solutions are innovative aesthetically pleasing and align with the clients vision and project goals while adhering to all relevant building codes and regulations.
- Technical Oversight: Conduct in-depth reviews of construction drawings to guarantee technical accuracy and sufficiency. Proactively identify and resolve critical technical conflicts including but not limited to structural and MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) clashes.
- Change Management: Meticulously manage and control the rate of design changes to maintain project timelines and budget integrity.
- Cost Optimization: Demonstrate strong cost sensitivity by actively seeking opportunities for cost savings through strategic material selection and structural optimization without compromising design quality.
- Project Coordination: Liaise and coordinate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams including engineers contractors and consultants to ensure a seamless and integrated design process.
- Regulatory Compliance: Leverage your expertise in local and regional building codes and permitting processes to ensure all projects meet statutory requirements. A strong familiarity with Southeast Asian and Cambodian standards is highly advantageous.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree or higher in Architecture or similar
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in top-tier architectural design institutes or within the top 30 real estate development firms.
- Project Portfolio: Demonstrable experience on at least three full-cycle projects. Projects over 100000sqm are desireable.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expert-level proficiency in BIM CAD and Rhino software.
- Proven ability to coordinate and integrate work across various technical disciplines.
- Cost Management: A strong track record of cost sensitivity and successful implementation of cost-optimization strategies in past projects.
- Language Skills: Business-fluent in both written and spoken English.
