Heavy Duty / Commercial Transport Mechanic
HEAVY DUTY / COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT MECHANIC
We are seeking a skilled and reliable busmechanic to maintain our fleet to company standards ensuring all preventativemaintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner. Reporting to theDirector of Operations and Shop Manager the mechanic will play a crucial rolein keeping our tour buses in excellent working condition. Since we transportpassenger guests rather than freight it is essential to understand the urgencyof addressing breakdowns to ensure safety reliability and guest satisfaction.
- Performing preventive andmaintenance inspections such as oil changes lubrications and tune ups as perCompany standards.
- Performing adjustments and repairsor replacing parts and components of commercial buses as per Company standardsusing hand tools or other specialize automotive repair equipment
- Inspecting and testingmechanical units such as engines transmissions axles and brake systems tolocate faults and malfunctions
- Reviewing and maintainingwork orders accurately and on time
- Filling out DVIR books andinspection sheets accurately and on time
- Ensuring that buses arerepaired and maintained clean and presentable to the highest standards
- Repairing air brake systems
- Making sure that all workis done properly to ensure minimum duplicate repair
- Driving a Service Truck orBuses for Road Calls
- Maintaining work area clean
- To carry out other tasks asmay be reasonably requested
- Remaining on feet forcontinuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area
- Requires lifting carryingor pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs
- You have your Red SealCertification
- You have at least 2 yearsof relevant Diesel/Heavy Truck/Bus Mechanic experience
- High School Diploma orequivalent
- Legally able to work inCanada
- Inspectors ticket is anasset
- Having a BC CommercialDrivers License Class 1 2 or 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset
- You are goal oriented andhave ethical work conduct
- You are punctual and haveconsistent work attendance
- You have good verbal andwritten communication skills
- You can work independentlyand as part of a team
- You have strong customerservice skills with the ability to see issues from the guests perspective
- Must maintain and adhere toall commercial vehicle safety standards as stipulated by the province ofBritish Columbia
- Must have a flexibleschedule with availability to work a variety of hours which may include earlymornings evenings weekends and/or holidays
- Must always follow allcompany guidelines and internal protocols and procedures
- Must have own tools
