Job Description

About the role:

This position is situated within the Specialist Homelessness Service which provides support and accommodation to young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The Therapeutic Youth Worker is responsible for the delivery of high quality residential supports that promotes the emotional social and behavioural needs of vulnerable young people.

This is a Part Time (39 per fortnight) ongoing opportunity based in Blacktown NSW . This role sits within our Specialist Homelessness Services Program and reports to theHouse Supervisor.

Need to be able to work as per shifts on the below roster:

Week 1

Tuesday: 9.00am 12pm

Wednesday (Sleepover): 4.30pm 9.30am

Sunday (Sleepover): 4.30pm 9.30am

Week 2

Wednesday (sleepover) 4.30pm 9.30am

Saturday (Sleepover) 4.30pm 9.30am

Primary objectives:

  • Provide trauma-informed accommodation and support services that achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families;
  • Provide young people with safety stability predictability and consistency by implementing therapeutic routines and individual plans for young people;
  • Participate in team meetings house meetings and case review meetings to ensure that young people receive services that meet their needs.

Key Selection Criteria:

The incumbent will have:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in youth services residential care or supported accommodation;
  • Demonstrated understanding of youth homelessness;
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with young people with social emotional and behavioural difficulties;
  • Demonstrated ability to implement case plan goals for young people with challenging behaviours;
