JOB SUMMARY:
Hamilton Community Schools is a student-centered community-focused public school district committed to excellence in education wellness and lifelong learning. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Aquatics Supervisor to lead and grow our aquatic programs for students and the greater community. This role requires exceptional communication organizational and leadership skills and offers the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children families and residents throughout our community.
The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the districts aquatic programs and community pool. This includes the development implementation and supervision of instructional recreational and competitive swim programs for students staff and community members. The Aquatics Supervisor ensures a safe inclusive and high-quality aquatic environment that supports wellness skill development and community engagement.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:
This position offers the opportunity to supplement income by serving as a coach for the high schools varsity swim teams. The Aquatics Director may be considered for head coaching roles for the Boys and/or Girls Varsity Swim Teams which include additional stipends and offer a rewarding way to work directly with student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a person in this position. The Aquatics Supervisor is also responsible for other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the district.
- Plan maintain organize evaluate and administer the overall programming and operations of the Hamilton Community Pool
- Oversee and perform training certification and scheduling of all aquatics staff including lifeguards and instructors
- Serve as the districts certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor providing required training and recertification for district staff
- Coordinate and instruct learn to swim activities for both community members and school groups
- Coordinate and schedule lap swim open swim fitness classes swim team practices competitions and other pool events
- Maintain the Hamilton Community Pool website and social media accounts to promote programs and communicate with the public
- Organize and oversee all pool-related events and ensure they are well-coordinated and staffed
- Communicate regularly with school and community stakeholders to identify and meet facility programming and equipment needs
- Oversee the cleanliness maintenance and inventory of the pool related facilities and all equipment
- Conduct daily chemical testing and assist with pool chemical and supply management
- Assist with and/or supervise pool safety systems including timing systems media and video surveillance
- Provide leadership and assistance in planning organizing and executing community pool programs and events
- Support program development by analyzing opportunities implementing strategies and measuring program effectiveness
- Assist in the recruitment assignment and evaluation of community pool staff
- Supervise or assist with the cleaning and upkeep of the pool deck locker rooms restrooms and lobby areas
- Collaborates with the Superintendent to ensure alignment of the pools programming with district goals and priorities
- Works with the Human Resources department to ensure proper onboarding training and compliance for all aquatics staff
- Partners with the Finance Department to manage the aquatics budget process payments oversee equipment purchases administer insurance-related procedures handle claims and develop maintenance schedules for the pool and related facilities
- Coordinate and maintain facility rental agreements invoices and pool calendars
- Monitor participation prepare reports and assist in maintaining accurate pool recordkeeping and safety documentation
- Provide facility leadership during school and community events as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and success of the districts recreation and aquatics programming
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
- Knowledge of safety procedures recreation program rules equipment usage and facility maintenance
- Proven experience in providing professional development or coaching for physical education or swim instructors
- Strong knowledge of best practices in aquatic education swim instruction and water safety
- Ability to build relationships with a diverse group of students staff and stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff
- Computer proficiency and ability to use oral and written communication effectively
- Skill in using office equipment management software; ability to quickly master new technology platforms
- Ability to problem-solve prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure with multiple competing deadlines
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays as required by programming
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelors degree preferred in Physical Education Recreation Sports Management Kinesiology or a related field
- Current certification in water safety instruction and lifeguard training. The lifeguard certification includes Lifeguard Skills First Aid and CPR/AED (must be renewed every two years)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification (must be renewed every two years)
- Minimum of 5 years of combined experience working in an aquatics environment with at least 3 of those years spent in aquatics program development and/or management
- Concussion training certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) certification (or willingness to obtain)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to sit stand walk talk hear operate a computer and other equipment reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
