We are seeking a highly organized proactive and enthusiastic Planning Editor to join our newsroom team. This role is responsible for coordinating and planning content across multiple platforms ensuring seamless integration and execution of news stories. Must be able to bring original segments and guest ideas to the table daily. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and deep understanding of multimedia production.

Role Highlights:
Collaborate with editorial teams to develop and implement content strategies for broadcast digital and streaming platforms.
Establish and maintain a weekly calendar of live guests live talkbacks (local or satellite) and other live segments and other live segments both in studio and remote covering both hard news and feature-oriented topics.
Build and nurture professional relationships with contacts for segments including experts in professional fields entertainment and sports industries Public Information Officers government and corporate personnel and more.
Follow organized communication system for critical information related to segments including contact and background information official reports or research for hard-news segments and questions and background for feature segments.
Independently write and produce segments including structuring the entire segment writing dynamic copy creating graphics and ordering video and sound.
Field produces live coverage of large-scale events and taped field segments as needed.
Assist in the development of multimedia projects including video audio and interactive content.
Support the news team in identifying and securing guest appearances and expert interviews.
Collaborate with reporters anchors and other on-air staff to generate story ideas for content creation across all platforms.
Participate in editorial meetings and contribute ideas for content development and improvement.
Assist the digital team and assignment desk especially during breaking news situations both locally and nationally by providing ideas for ad-hoc live guests Zoom/video interviews and other perspective material.
Line-produce newscasts when needed.
Produce digital and social media elements for segments and other news material.
What Youre Bringing:
Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in journalism communications or related field with a minimum of three years of newsroom experience. Previous experience producing newscasts or working on assignment desk is required.
Skills: Exceptional written verbal copy editing and broadcast production skills with solid news judgment. Extremely self-reliant and organized.
Storytelling: Excellent storyteller with experience in publishing content on digital and social platforms including Facebook X TikTok Instagram and YouTube.
Creativity: Creative detail-oriented and ability to find new ways to present information.
Professionalism: Ability to take direction and work under deadline pressure consistently displaying a professional demeanor. Positive and supportive newsroom citizen.

Candidates must provide writing samples and a reel/link of recent production work. FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Flexibility in scheduling is essential including evenings early mornings weekends and holidays. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements the pay rate/range for this role with final offer amount dependent on education skills experience and location is $33.41 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance a 401(k) plan paid time off and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.Full-Time
