The Director EHR Programming and Administration is responsible for leading the strategic planning development and management of the Point and Click Electronic Health Record (EHR) system within USC Student Health. This position plays a key role in supporting high-quality compliant and student-centered health care by ensuring the EHR platform aligns with clinical workflows privacy requirements (HIPAA/FERPA) and Student Health goals. This role oversees the configuration optimization and support of the Point and Click (PnC) Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system while leading a small team of programmer(s) and analyst(s). The Director oversees program design coding testing debugging installation documentation and maintenance. Has full technical knowledge of programming and analysis and instructs directs and reviews the work of other staff.
Essential Duties:
- Provide leadership for the programming team setting strategic direction mentoring staff and overseeing the coordination and execution of development projects.
- Oversee the configuration maintenance and ongoing optimization of the Point and Click Electronic Health Record (EHR) system ensuring alignment with clinical and operational goals.
- Customize EHR componentsincluding templates workflows reports and user interfacesto support the unique needs of USC Student Health.
- Lead system upgrades testing documentation and change control activities ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Translate clinical and operational requirements into effective technical solutions serving as a key liaison between healthcare providers administrative teams and IT staff.
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences demonstrating strong interpersonal and presentation skills to foster understanding and alignment across departments.
- Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent initiatives balancing long-term projects with urgent support needs and resource constraints.
- Apply deep hands-on experience with the Point and Click EHR system including advanced customization reporting and workflow optimization to maximize system performance and user satisfaction.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelors Degree Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Req 10 years of IT experience in health IT or EHR administration.
- Req 3 years of serving as a senior technical lead on a programming team.
- Req Strong technical expertise in software development and applications.
- Req Excellent communicator who works with technical teams and leadership to gather requirements and provide updates.
- Req Exceptional organization and time management skills.
- Req Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Req Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Req In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements including HIPAA FERPA and best practices for handling protected health information (PHI).
- Req Lead complex technical projects from initial concept through planning development implementation and post-launch support.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).
The annual base salary range for this position is $133.120.00 - $219648.00.
