Job Description

Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for one (1)Preschool Enrichment Instructor - CO Dept. of Early Childhood Lead Teacher Qualified positions. 36 hours per week 4 hrs/day on Monday and 8 hours/day Tuesday - Friday. Must meet Lead teacher qualified under Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing rules or willing to acquire credentials by the start date of the position. Includes benefits and begins August 11 2025.

SUMMARY: Work with the Licensed Preschool Teacher to asssist in delivering the districts curriculum and provide enrichment opportunities to extend students learning while meeting the needs of all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. The frequency and percentage of time of duties may vary based on building or department assignment.

D Utilize effective teaching practices to implement the preschool curriculum. Create an engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of the whole child. Modify the environment and activities as necessary to address individual student differences and developmental levels.

D Assist in implementing each students Individual Education Plan (IEP) and ensure that appropriate classroom adaptations and modifications are made for students. Assist in monitoring each students IEP including goals and benchmarks and perform ongoing assessments including documenting progress.

D Develop schedule coordinate and implement enrichment opportunities for preschool students.

W Perform other program administration tasks such as registering students completing required reports etc.

M Comply with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood County Health Department; and the school districts policies and regulations.

M Comply with laws and regulations by maintaining student files; ensuring that classrooms and programs comply with District state and federal policies and regulations.

M Implement curriculum-based assessments for all students; analyze data; drive databased decisions around programming.

Ongoing Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. Lead teacher qualified under the Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing rules or willing to acquire credentials. Lead teacher qualifications require 1 of the following:

  • Bachelors: EL ED ECE family child development child psychology
  • Bachelors in unrelated and 2 ECE courses
  • AA in ECE
  • Credential Level 3 no additional experience
  • 2-year college degree w/2 ECE courses and 6 months experience
  • 12 semester hours w/9 months of experience

EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in a preschool program preferred.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: Lead teacher qualified under the Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing rules or willing to acquire credentials.

TECHNICAL SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Familiar with the Colorado Academic Standards for preschool
  • Experience with conducting student observations and providing authentic assessments
  • Experience with parent communication and involvement
  • Ability to use effective interventions for at-risk learners
  • Knowledge of developmental emotional and behavioral disabilities
  • Knowledge of early childhood development
  • Experience in data collection and data analysis
  • Ability to use proper English grammar punctuation and sentence structure
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education and District policies Superintendent policies and building/department procedures.
  • Knowledge of first aid skills

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE: Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers.
