Who Are We Looking For

The Web Technical Support Specialist plays a crucial role within the IT department providing essential technical support and expertise for the organizations e-commerce initiatives. This position will primarily focus on assisting the Marketing team with the development and maintenance of our Shopify-based e-commerce site and supporting the Sales team with the development and maintenance of our BigCommerce-based e-commerce site. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of web technologies e-commerce platforms and a problem-solving mindset to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of our online sales channels.

What Youll Do:

Shopify Platform Support:

  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to implement maintain and troubleshoot features and functionalities on the Shopify e-commerce platform.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for theme customization app integration and general platform best practices.
  • Assist with the deployment of new products promotions and content updates on the Shopify site.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by the Marketing team related to the Shopify store including but not limited to broken links display errors checkout problems and integration failures.
  • Stay up-to-date with Shopify updates new features and changes to ensure optimal performance and leverage new capabilities.

BigCommerce Platform Support:

  • Work in conjunction with the Sales team to develop maintain and enhance the BigCommerce e-commerce platform.
  • Offer technical assistance for storefront design product catalog management order processing flows and customer account functionalities within BigCommerce.
  • Support the integration of BigCommerce with other business systems (e.g. CRM ERP shipping software) as required by the Sales team.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues affecting the BigCommerce site such as payment gateway errors shipping calculation inaccuracies search functionality problems and API integration issues.
  • Monitor BigCommerce platform performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.

General Web Technical Support:

  • Provide general technical support for web-related issues across both platforms escalating complex problems to senior IT staff or platform support as needed.
  • Assist with website performance optimization (page load times image optimization etc.).
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and vendors on broader web infrastructure projects and security initiatives.
  • Document technical processes troubleshooting steps and configurations for both Shopify and BigCommerce.
  • Participate in testing new features updates and integrations before deployment to production environments.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of e-commerce operations through technical analysis and recommendations.

Your Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of HTML CSS and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with web standards browser compatibility and responsive design.
  • Experience with e-commerce platform administration including product management order management customer management and App management.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Service Providers AWS Microsoft Azure
  • Basic understanding of APIs and integrations.
  • Proficiency with ticketing systems and IT support best practices.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices for e-commerce sites is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and with vendors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer-service oriented approach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Web Development or related field equivalent experience or a mix of education and experience preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in web technical support web development or e-commerce support role required.
  • Demonstrable experience working with and supporting Shopify e-commerce platforms.
  • Demonstrable experience working with and support BigCommerce e-commerce platforms.
  • GitHub references and past work references/examples.

Compensation: $33.65 $38.46/hour ($70000 - $80000/year)

Location: Hybrid within Whatcom County Washington state.
