Job description

We are looking to recruit a Graduate Thermohydraulic Engineer for CFD projects and reactor transient calculations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop his technical skills through internal and external trainings as well as by working on complex projects.

As part of the Safety Engineering team in Framatome Ltd your mission is to:

- Conduct thermohydraulic studies of normal incidental and accidental transients on PWR reactors
- Perform CFD thermohydraulic studies on nuclear and non-nuclear projects.

Key Activities

You will be a part of the Safety Engineering team in charge of providing a broad range of analysis and report part of the safety case for the relevant Pressurised Water Reactors in the UK (Sizewell B and Hinkley Point C). The tools and methods are world leading and qualified for nuclear safety analysis and are provided by the Framatome Group and the reference team based in Paris.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing the calculation input deck from a set of reactor documentations operating instructions and mechanical drawings of the reactor geometry and piping arrangements
  • Running a series of transient simulations with a different set of parameters for different incidental and accidental scenario
  • Preparing a detailed analysis report with discussion of the results the limits of the simulation and the conclusions on safety
  • Carrying out team activities while adhering to project budgets and deadlines
  • Developing technical project proposals
  • Technical reports for reactor normal operations incidental and accidental transients supported by thermohydraulic calculations
  • Safety report chapters
  • Technical project proposals

Profile

Training and Development requirements

  • With a MSc or Phd in nuclear fluid mechanics thermal or energy engineering.
  • Experience with CATHARE software or other safety system software such as MANTA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CFD and experience using StarCCM is a plus.

Advanced knowledge of complex simulation models for unsteady fluid flow and two-phase water-steam mixtures is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
