The Senior Instrument Support Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for global service and support of Microbiology instruments and core team representation in product development projects. The Global Product Technical Support team members participate in new product development and design change projects and are responsible for:

• Collect and distill voice of service and ensure serviceability requirements are translated into design inputs
• Develop service and support plans to successfully prepare the regional service and support organizations to install maintain and repair newly commercialized products
• Create all service and support deliverables such as spare parts set up service documentation service systems set up training content creation and delivery
• Execute global product roll outs and assess country and reginal readiness prior to product launch

This position reports to the Global Product Technical Support Manager is part of the Global Product Technical Support team - Microbiology Engineering and Services department located in West Sacramento CA and will be ONSITE five days a week.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

• Provide technical support by diagnosing troubleshooting and repairing complex electro/mechanical failures on Microbiology instruments to internal in-country and regional service personnel around the world
• Respond to situations where first and second-line of product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment. Represent the highest level of problem escalation
• Investigate and escalate design reliability and maintenance problems or defects to appropriate function
• Proactively monitor Service KPIs and analyze data to identify and plan for opportunities of improvement
• May be responsible for developing and conducting technical knowledge transfers to other internal functions and regional support organizations

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelors Degree in biomedical mechanical or electrical engineering with 5 years of experience in the field OR Masters Degree in the same disciplines with 3 years of experience in the field OR 10 years of equivalent and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability of formally mentoring field service engineers in solving complex instrument repairs and escalations
• Experience in developing and executing action plans that include cross functional and multidisciplinary team members

Travel Requirements:

• This position requires up to 15% flying and/or driving travel which includes overnight stays. Travel will primarily be domestic but may occasionally be international.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Expertise in servicing and supporting MicroScan WalkAway DXM and AS4 instruments or comparable experience in servicing complex optical/mechanical/electrical instruments used in diagnostic or medical laboratories

The annual salary range for this role is $110000.00-$130000.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
