The CFO oversees FinanceBusiness Intelligence & IT Capital and Strategic Projects and AssetManagement and acts as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board of Trustees. TheCFO plays a vital role in financial governance business modelling operationaltransformation and the execution of capital initiatives.
SpecificAccountabilities
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team the CFO isaccountable for the following outcomes:
Financial Strategy andLeadership
Lead thedevelopment of multi-year financial strategies that align with the Parksmission and master plan.
Overseebudgeting forecasting investment planning financial modeling andperformance analysis.
Delivertimely and accurate monthly financials (within 10 business days) and narrativeinsights.
Advisethe CEO and Board on financial risks and opportunities.
Excellence Indicator: Timely board-ready reports; strategicinsights leading to sound financial decisions; clean audit outcomes.
Capital & StrategicProject Oversight
Leadfinancial and operational oversight of major capital developments andinfrastructure projects.
Partnerwith internal and external stakeholders on long-term capital planning andimplementation.
Alignprojects with the Parks Master Plan and financial capacity.
Excellence Indicator: On-time on-budget delivery of capitalinitiatives; integration of revenue-generating models within master planimplementation.
Business Intelligence and ITLeadership
Set theIT and business intelligence vision for the Park enabling data-drivendecision-making.
Overseeenterprise systems modernization and digital transformation.
Ensurecybersecurity network reliability and effective use of technology inoperations.
ExcellenceIndicator:Seamless integration of upgraded systems; real-time access to accurate data;enhanced digital guest and staff experience.
AssetManagement & Operational Oversight
Overseethe long-term stewardship and renewal of the Parks physical assets.
Ensureproactive maintenance programs sustainability planning and regulatorycompliance.
Supportthe Director in aligning facilities operations with guest experience andenvironmental goals.
ExcellenceIndicator:Comprehensive asset lifecycle plans; operational cost savings; high internaland guest satisfaction.
Strategic Advisory andRevenue Modelling
Model newbusiness scenarios revenue diversification strategies and cost-benefitanalyses.
Partnerwith the CEO and executive team to evaluate strategic decisions.
Providefinancial modeling to support new pricing programming and growthopportunities.
Excellence Indicator: Executive-ready models;informed Board decisions; measurable revenue innovation.
Integrated Risk andCompliance Oversight
Lead enterprise-wide riskmanagement including financial operational technology capital project andinfrastructure-related risks.
Develop and maintain an integratedrisk register and mitigation strategies aligned with Board governance and Cityreporting expectations.
Ensure compliance with financialpolicies public sector requirements regulatory standards and fundingagreements.
Act as internal control championsupporting audit readiness and strengthening policy enforcement acrossportfolios.
Excellence Indicators:
Active risk register and quarterlyreporting to the Audit Finance and Risk Committee.
No material findings ininternal/external audits.
Demonstrated reduction inpreventable risk events and insurance claims.
Strong internal controls validatedby third-party review.
Board Audit & CityEngagement
Serve as lead liaison to the AuditFinance and Risk Committee.
Buildtrusted relationships with the Board City of Calgary external auditors andfunders.
Ensureregulatory compliance contract management and public accountability.
Excellence Indicator: Strong funder confidence; cleanaudits; responsive and transparent governance reporting.
People Leadership andSuccession Planning
Mentorand develop a high-performing team across the portfolio. Provide executiveleadership to the organization and promote an organizational culture of respectand collaboration enhancing employee engagement.
Leadstructural reorganization and team realignment where needed.
Foster aculture of accountability mentorship and professional growth.
