SALEM ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL OVERVIEWSalem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston offering a rigorous college preparatory program to nearly 500 students in grades 6-12. Candidates should be passionate about SACSs mission and vision and have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student SUMMARY & OVERVIEWThe Interim Assistant Dean of Students (ADOS) is responsible for promoting and sustaining a safe and supportive school culture that enables students to reach high academic expectations and develop strong character. The Assistant Dean is responsible for fostering a highly respectful school culture and for providing staff with the needed tools and support to consistently implement positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS). The Assistant Dean is also responsible for implementing our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculums in grades 6-12 processing behavioral incidents tracking and managing data related to student behavior and communicating effectively with students staff and DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESIn collaboration with the Dean of Students the Assistant Dean of Students will ensure the effective implementation of Salem Academys Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). These responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with staff students and families to promote a safe and supportive school cultureworking with the Executive Director Managing Director of Safe and Supportive Culture Principals and Dean of Students to provide staff training on policies and procedures regarding behavior and cultureactively monitor student behavior in common areas throughout the dayensuring that Positive Behavior Supports are implemented effectivelycommunicating with families and staff regarding behavior incidentsoversees the day-day-day logistics of the internal and external mentorship programssupervising restorative circles reflection rooms and detention when necessaryadministering behavior plans and other supports as neededreporting all incidents of bullying and harassment as stated in the Bullying Prevention and Intervention PlanQUALIFICATIONSBelief in the mission and vision of the schoolAbility to provide a structured orderly safe and respectful school environmentDemonstrated ability to connect with diverse students and familiesDemonstrated ability to lead coach and collaborate with adults from a diverse range of perspectives and backgroundsAn entrepreneurial spirit that reflects an openness to change willingness to problem-solve and an interest in developing new ideas and programsOutstanding written and oral communication skillsFluency in Spanish a plusSalem Academy Charter School values a school culture that celebrates learning and we believe that the adult culture in the school is the foundation of the schools success.
