Job Description
ASSYST is seeking a Data Engineer to support our government customer based in Austin TX. HHSC IT is continuing to develop a Health and Human Services (HHS) data integration hub aimed at implementing and configuring infrastructure designing and developing the hub using agile methodology and supporting ongoing operations. The worker will serve as a technical leader and be part of an agile development team working on automating data acquisition developing complex SQL scripts and configuring Informatica for ETL processes.
Position is complete ONSITE at Austin TX

Key Responsibilities:
- Understand business objectives and problems; identify alternative solutions and perform cost/benefit analysis.
- Analyze user requirements and operational procedures to recommend improvements or automation.
- Collaborate with organizational units to gather requirements and define system input/output specifications.
- Write detailed descriptions of user needs and required development steps.
- Review system capabilities and scheduling limitations for feasibility assessments.
- Lead agile development teams through projects including all SDLC phases.
- Automate data acquisition from diverse sources (Oracle SQL Server Excel Access PDF).
- Develop complex SQL scripts and automation using Informatica Power Center/IICS.
- Create views/materialized views in Oracle to support dimensional models.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies and collaborate on design and data acquisition strategies.
- Validate and verify SQL scripts Informatica workflows and database views.
- Develop automated testing mechanisms.
- Work with architects data engineers and stakeholders to implement optimal data designs.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including specifications and diagrams.
- Interpret changing business requirements and propose corresponding system enhancements.
- Assist in implementing development tools and develop mockups for validation.
- ETL automation using Informatica Power Center/IICS.
- Data integration from multiple sources (Oracle SQL Server Excel Access Adobe PDF) for Tableau.
- Designing and developing complex efficient SQL scripts (Oracle and/or Snowflake).
- System analysis in data analytics performance management or data warehousing environments.
- Technical writing and diagramming (Visio Erwin); proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.
- Experience planning and delivering cross-product software platforms.
- Proficiency in writing testable efficient well-designed code using best practices.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Agile sprint team experience.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Understanding of security principles in handling healthcare data.
- Experience with BI or performance metrics data visualization.
- Bachelors degree in CS IS Business or equivalent.
- Experience in healthcare industry with HHS agencies or working with PII/PHI data.
- Scripting in Python; familiarity with JIRA.
- Knowledge or experience with Web Services (REST SOAP).
- Coding experience in Java JavaScript and C#.
- CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub and Git Actions.
- Experience as a Mulesoft developer.
