Job Description

Franklin Public Schools is seeking an energetic creative and innovative Art/Ceramics Teacher to join our dynamic arts program. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ceramics and a passion for inspiring students to explore their creativity through clay and three-dimensional of Responsibilities:-Teach ceramics and 3D art classes including wheel-throwing hand-building glazing and kiln operation.-Develop engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and foster students technical and artistic growth.-Create a safe and organized studio environment conducive to creativity exploration and skill development.-Instruct students on the proper use and care of materials tools and equipment including clay mixers pottery wheels and kilns.-Manage and maintain inventory of clay glazes and ceramics tools and oversee the maintenance of kilns and other equipment.-Encourage students to develop their individual artistic voices and to critically analyze works of art both their own and others.-Assess student progress and provide regular feedback through critiques and written evaluations.-Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect collaboration and high standards of behavior.-Collaborate with colleagues in planning interdisciplinary projects and contributing to art shows and exhibitions.-Maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and progress as required by school policies.-Stay current with developments in ceramic arts and education through professional development :-Bachelors degree in Art Education Fine Arts or a related field required; Masters degree preferred.-Appropriate Massachusetts DESE teaching license (Visual Art PreK-12).-Demonstrated experience in ceramics including wheel-throwing hand-building glazing techniques and kiln operation.-Knowledge of art history and contemporary practices in ceramic arts.-Strong classroom management and organizational skills.-Ability to inspire motivate and engage students of diverse skill levels and backgrounds.-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.-Commitment to fostering creativity and critical thinking in the visual Public Schools is committed to maintaining an environment free from discrimination and harassment in accordance with state and federal law.
